Helping Families Since 1999

Angels on Assignment works with other organizations within our community to help individuals who need additional assistance such as:

Alicia's House – To honor the memory of Alicia, who passed away at the age of 4, on January 14, 2001, her Grandma Stella and her Poppy Juan started a non-for profit, 501c3, food pantry called Alicia's House. Alicia's House feeds hundreds of families each month and each box of food contains Alicia's loving touch. In 2006 Alicia's House fed 2,937 families, 9,743 individuals, and distributed 110,070 pounds of food. With your help they can help to feed even more hungry families each year. http://www.AliciasHouse.org

Sharon's Custom Designed Cakes - This specialty cake shop operates from a historic home in downtown Crete, Illinois. The house was built in 1877 by Daniel E. Hewes, originator of the Acme Potato Co. In 1991, the building was purchased by Sharon Komes to fulfill her dream of opening a cake shop, which led to the opening of Sharon's Custom Designed Cakes shortly thereafter. In 1994, the house was awarded a "Beautification Award" by the Crete Area Historical Society.  http://chicagolandcakes.com

CRETE Aurelio's Pizza - In 1959, Joe Aurelio Jr., at age 26, opened a small, 4 table restaurant on Ridge Rd. in Homewood, IL. In the early days, sales were driven by Joe's homecooked beef sandwiches, but as more people were exposed to his pizza, the concept began to take flight. Combining generations of family recipes with his innovative approach to pizza-making, Joe's recipe for success was born.  http://aureliospizza.com

The Original Northwoods - Northwoods Hearty Home Cookin' & Saloon in Crete, Illinois was opened on February 2nd, 1998 with one mission in mind. To recreate, as best as we could, the feel, the heart, and the wonderful meals of The Great Northwoods of Wisconsin that we loved. To that end, we drew from recipes that were typical of those that Grandma Jacobs would prepare in Three Lakes, Wisconsin along with favorites from local "supper clubs". We created a diverse menu of comfort foods that were named to pay homage to the little towns and points of interest Up North. Finally, we wrapped it all in the cozy and intimate little "Wisconsin Lodge" you see today.  We hope to see you soon!  The Maschmeyer Family.  http://northwoodssaloon.com

Crete Bulldogs - In 1968, Sam and Betty Dunlap founded the "Crete Bulldogs" in memory of their son Rick. Rick had recently died from injuries suffered in a car accident. Because of the Dunlap's fondness for athletics and Sam and Betty's unselfish community spirit, the Crete Bulldogs were formed. The Bulldogs name was chosen because of Sam's involvement with the United States Marines. The colors orange and blue were chosen because of Sam's college years where he played football for Syracuse. Starting in 1985, Pat Dunlap actively participated in the program and continued to for many years.  The goal of the program has always been to afford the youth of our community the opportunity to participate in a team environment so that they may learn the fundamentals of football and cheerleading, good sportsmanship, and share with others their experiences as a member of the organization.  http://www.cretebulldogs.com
